We believe that *1+1=3.
So, we’re wrapping this week by celebrating good work - by not just one, but two great organizations.
Call us biased, but we’ll start with a top favorite: Girls in Tech, Inc. GIT’s mission is to close the gender gap in technology. This non-profit creates community, inclusivity, and opportunity in a field that hasn’t always been accessible due to broken systems and cultural gaps.
Next up, Banyan Labs is a Custom Software Development & Design Agency with a Social Justice Mission. Banyan Labs employs justice-impacted individuals, web developers, and software engineers as they re-enter society, after experiencing incarceration.
Now, for the fun part.
On October 1st and 2nd, Girls In Tech New York is hosting a Hackathon to enable career outcomes for formerly incarcerated people in partnership with Banyan Labs and others. We are so excited to see the application solutions that come out of this event!
In the meantime, let’s anchor this concept of post-prison rehab through tech, in tangible, real-world terms. To read Shandea Hardin’s story, click the link in the comments, below.
*If your kids are new to addition, don’t try and explain this yet.
